Patrick Uptain

Patrick Uptain is from Montgomery, AL, where growing up in church, he was exposed to music at an early age. He continued singing and performing in musicals at church and school through junior high and high school.

After being accepted to American Music and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in New York, NY he moved to the big city and studied musical theater for two years. Over the next fourteen years, Patrick found himself primarily focused in being a part of the music scene in The Big Apple. For four years, he played keyboards, percussion, and sang back up for The Twelve (a well-established Rolling Stones-ish, blues-driven band based in Park Slope, Brooklyn).

After leaving the popular Brooklyn band, Patrick found himself in the theater again writing, playing keyboards, and singing in a successful original rock musical called "Project: Ground Control". Thus, Yellow Dog was born... the band was hand-selected to perform the music for this rock opera, based on David Bowie's character Major Tom. Yellow Dog earned a dedicated following, and toured the tri-state area, hitting clubs all over New York and opening for bands such as Mountain.

Patrick was drawn to the Music City because of his strong songwriting sensibilities, and a hunger to surround himself with talent. Currently, he works round the clock, sharpening his skills, and honing his craft, and hopes to bring his music to the ears and hearts of many.
